Avengers: Endgame is now a thing of the past. We sat through ten plus years of movies picking apart all of the Easter eggs and clues, and paid close attention to all the post-credit scenes so we can try to predict what would happen in the big climax of the MCU.
Now that we know what became of our beloved heroes and Thanos, it’s time to look ahead a try to guess what’s next for Marvel Studios and The Avengers. After so many movies for over a decade, one would think that Endgame would be the end. However, things do not look like they are slowing down for Marvel at all.
We know about the next film to hit theaters which is Spider-Man: Far From Home. We also know about the series that will be hitting the Disney Plus streaming service including shows for Loki, Falcon and Winter Soldier, and WandaVision.
Not much is known after that though. But that’s not gonna stop us from trying to predict the future and take a guess at who and what will be coming to destroy the Galaxy next. Thanos was such an amazing character played to perfection so it might be hard to surpass that. Well, here are 5 villains that might be up to the task:
For a long time, fans have dreamt of what it would be like to see the world eater in the MCU. That was never really possible because of the fact that Galactus is mainly a Fantastic Four villain and Fox studios owned the rights to those characters. All of that changed when Disney purchased Fox and with that came all of its properties.
Galactus is one of the oldest and most powerful beings in all of the Marvel Universe who is a master of the Power Cosmic. He also devours entire planets to stay alive. I’m not sure if this can be played out over a long stretch of films like The Infinity Saga was, but seeing Galactus in the MCU and on the big screen for the first time is sure to get an amazing reaction from fans. With the rumored Silver Surfer movie in development, we may get our wish.
Apocalypse is the first and most powerful mutant in the Marvel Universe. A true fan favorite, his powers and abilities are too long to list. With him, he would bring the Four Horsemen. A powerful group similar to what we saw with Thanos’ Black Order in Infinity War.
Apocalypse has been the biggest thorn in the side of the X-Men since he was introduced in 1986. His might could rival Thanos which would make him a worthy villain for the MCU. We already saw him portrayed by Oscar Isaac in X-Men: Apocalypse, but in my opinion, they severely missed the mark and did not do the character justice at all. With Disney owning the rights to the X-Men franchise now, I’m sure if they wanted to use him as the main bad guy they would do it right.
3. The Beyonder
There was a graphic that was floating around social media that had a list of all movies coming for the MCU in the future. If this list is true or not remains to be seen, but if it is true then that means that the third installment of MCU’s Spider-Man franchise will be called Secret Wars.
That means that we will see for the first time ever on a live-action screen, The Beyonder. Who is this character? Well, he is considered to be one of the most powerful forces in the entire Marvel universe. Even more so than Thanos. Beyonder is a cosmic entity who is near omnipotent (which means limitless power who basically can’t be killed).
His mission in the comics was to destroy the entire Marvel Universe and it took literally everyone to bring him down. Imagine what that would be like watching on the silver screen for the MCU.
4. Doctor Doom
Declared as Marvel’s greatest villain in a ranking done by IGN, Doctor Doom is the most popular villain in the Marvel Universe. Fans everywhere are salivating at the idea of seeing him in the MCU go up against all of our favorite heroes. Of course, Disney’s purchase of Fox makes all of that possible now.
After three failed attempts on the big screen with three failed Fantastic Four movies, we can’t help but wonder what Marvel Studios can do with the dark sorcerer and we beg them to do it. It may seem like a tired subject at this point after the failures at the box office but it feels like a fresh start is coming for The Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom. Fingers crossed that soon we see him at least referenced in the MCU’s next phase.
5. Kang the Conqueror
I saved this one for last because this one makes the most sense to me based on everything that happened in Avengers: Endgame. I’m gonna give a spoiler here but come on, I know everyone has seen it already. In Endgame we saw all the heroes go back in time as part of their plan to bring back everyone who vanished and defeat Thanos.
What these events caused was not only mass confusion among audiences but potential severe anomalies in the timeline. Their actions may have created alternate realities and could have dire consequences for those realities. That’s where Kang comes in.
Kang is a time-traveling tyrant who is the ruler of a dying future Earth and comes back in time to a point where Earth is more healthy and therefore more valuable to rule. He may not as popular or powerful as Thanos, but his inclusion as the next big bad in the MCU makes all the sense in the world based on all the time traveling stuff I mentioned before.
Any way Marvel decides to go, it’s gonna be a tough task to outdo themselves after the success over the last ten plus years. Any villain they choose is gonna have a hard time filling Thanos’ shoes. The anticipation of what comes next continues to grow and is soon gonna pop unless we get some kind of answer quickly.
